Family Support Coordinator to be based in West Suffolk

Salary per annum NJC 10, £25,545 per annum pro rata

30 hours per week

Job Type Fixed Term for 12 Months

Your Role

Our Family Support Coordinators help families who have a child or children up to the age of 12 navigate the challenges of early parenthood. Services are delivered through home-visiting, group work and workshops/ projects. We tailor support to the individual needs through our services and through support or referrals to use external agencies with the overall aim of ensuring children in Suffolk have the best start in life.

Your Responsibilities

To work with colleagues, for the benefit of families, within the ethos and principles of the FTS Governing documents. Supporting families as appropriate through 1:1 home-visiting or support to access other services, to receive referrals and assess family needs ensuring support to families is reviewed at regular intervals and at the end of support.
Undertake designated responsibilities to safeguard and promote children’s welfare and keep up to date all relevant record keeping systems including data entry and any relevant administrative work.

You will need:

  • An understanding of the needs of children and families.
  • Experience of parenting or caring for children.
  • Experience of working with children.
  • To hold a relevant childcare qualification at NVQ Level 3 or above.
  • Experience of employment or voluntary work in family support.
  • Be able to work on own initiative, responding to families’ needs and providing feedback and support to families to achieve their goals.
  • Have a proven ability to enhance and develop partnership working
  • Work well as part of a team and to overcome the issues of remote working in the community and working from home.
  • A full, current driving licence and access to a car due to the nature of the job and the rural area.
  • To undertake an Enhanced DBS which will be arranged by us.

About Us

We are a voluntary organisation committed to promoting the welfare of families with young children and have been operating in Suffolk since 1983. Families and communities are at the heart of everything we do. Our friendly team of staff, trustees and volunteers are spread throughout the county working in an outreach capacity with a shared base when required.
You will have access to our office in Eye however the majority of the work will be undertaken in the community with other work based at home.
We also have a charity shop based in Eye and an eBay Hub in Stowmarket.
